2016 Photo a Day – Days 25 – 30

Day 25 – Jude’s working on an iMovie for school. His subject is New Zealand. It’s fun to see his creativity and humor going into this project.

Day 26 – My boys get their photo taken A LOT by me, unashamedly so. They’re used to my order to “smile” and I often get a small smile, a fake smile or a goofy smile. When I can get a genuine smile or laugh, it makes me so happy. Jude has such a great laugh!

Day 18 2016

Day 19 – It felt like a sad day. Rain is unusual in our neck of the woods and today I continued to say goodbye to South Campus which has been a big part of our family’s life. It’s not wrong, it’s just sad.

Day 19 2016

Day 19 2016

Day 20 – I continue to love and get used to my new camera. It takes amazing photos in low light. I have so many photos of my boys asleep or in bed. I love to see them relaxed and peaceful.

Day 21 – Where would I be without my crock pot? On the days that I am gone all day long, it’s comforting to know that we have a hot, yummy meal waiting for us when we get home.

Day 12 – Terrible parent moment. We gave the boys gi bags for Christmas to hold their gis and karate supplies. We included water bottles from the dojo – part way through January and Jude asks why there is paper in his water bottle.

Day 13 – I made Turkey Pot Shepherd’s Pies – my own recipe. Yummo!

Day 14 – We had a lovely snowy afternoon. Giant, beautiful, fluffy snowflakes. I loved the bud on this tree surrounded by snow. I am so thankful for seasons.

Day 16 – Beautiful Ivy. I love this girl and her family. It’s a joy to see her grow.

Day 17 – We have some favorite building sets in our home. Trio Blocks are one of them. It amazes me to see the things that the boys create. When it’s time to pack it all up they always beg to keep their creations for a while so they end up on top of the box.

2016 Photo a Day – Days 1-9

Day 1 – It’s time to take down the decorations. Each year I add a photo ornament, a chronicle of the boys as they grow. I usually buy one new ornament for the tree each year as well. This year it was a Tardis!

Day 01 2016

Day 1 2016

Day 2 – There are a lot of Lego Mini Figures in my life. The boys each received a mini figure a day as part of one of their Christmas advents. They’ve been watching over me.

Day 02 2016

Day 2 2016

Day 3 – I love this quote by Joss Whedon. Make…

Day 03 2016

Day 3 2016

Day 4 – It’s often hard to get good photos of our cat Checkers because of his dark fur. I was taking a bunch of photos of him sleeping and they just weren’t looking great. Then he yawned and I managed to catch it.

Day 04 2016

Day 4 2016

Day 5 – This was one of my crazy days. Take the boys to school, go to work, stop at the store, run home to get the boy’s gis that I forgot earlier, pick the boys up, go to karate, home, make some dinner (sort of) for the boys, Colin gets home, go to PTA meeting, home, change into my gi, go to karate class, home, realize I haven’t taken a photo of the day so snap one on the way to get the mail. Flip flops, gi and snow by street light.

Day 05 2016

Day 5 2016

Day 6 – Jude has been working hard to teach himself how to do a hand stand.

Day 06 2016

Day 6 2016

Day 7 – Thankful for the boy’s piano teacher and my friend. A lovely cup of tea while they have their lessons.

Day 07 2016

Day 7 2016

Day 8 – Some quiet time by myself at home. I drank a whole pot of tea by myself.

Day 08 2016

Day 8 2016

Day 9 – I had a bit of an angry day, my journal (and my sweet family) bore the brunt of it.

Well, Hello 2016

So I apparently took a year off of blogging. I’m ok with that. It was good. I’ve got the itch again though, so I will give it another go.

One thing that I am doing this year is a Photo a Day Challenge. I did this for a month with friends in August and I loved it. I’ve done some research and I probably won’t be excited about doing it everyday the entire year, but overall it seems like a worthwhile challenge. I’ve been working on my skills both with taking the photos and some post-processing. I’m looking forward to trying different techniques. I will be posting my photos weekly rather than daily.

I truly do love the start of a new year, the beginning of a new week, the start of the school year. It’s a chance to assess, to reflect and to re-calibrate. I inevitably plan too much, aim too high and over-do the goal setting, but I also usually manage to hit some of those targets and discover that some of them weren’t what I really wanted in the first place or I simply move some of them to my next new beginning.

Welcome to 2016. I begin the year with gratitude for my life. I am rich in family, friends and faith. Wainogo 1215
