Photo Challenge 2017 – Week 19: Portrait, Messy

I was thinking about messy portraits – there are so many things that people do to create beauty, art, health, amazing food – it’s messy on one side, the side that most people don’t see and gorgeous and complete on the other side, the side that people do usually see.

The mess is what makes the thing amazing, it’s necessary.

I’m thankful to Kristi, who, along with her family, owns Bad Wolf Bakery and Bistro here in town. They have amazing food and coffee and baked goods as well as being all out Doctor Who fans. Kristi allowed me to come and take her picture while she was making some cookies.

I struggled a bit with my portrait lens on this day, but I’m so glad I got to be in the kitchen with Kristi.

Photo Challenge 2017 – Week 18: Artistic, Texture

Can you tell I’m playing catch up after being stalled out for a few weeks? This was a fun one – I had heaps of ideas, but this is the one that I went with. It’s the boys clasping hands together. There is so much texture in hands and skin – the creases and folds.

Photo Challenge 2017 – Week 16: Portrait, Motion

The week 16 challenge totally stalled me out! I have heaps of ideas and several friends who volunteered to let me capture them in motion, but scheduling just didn’t work. I will continue to pursue getting those portraits done.

However, it’s taken me age to actually capture an action shot. I finally got one of Jude doing a two step jump side kick. I used a technique called panning which I love to do – I think you get such great effects and a feeling of motion. I would like to have had the time on Jude’s picture to take several more of the same shot and work and getting his face in focus, however, I was being eaten by mosquitoes and couldn’t take it anymore.

So, here’s my karate Jude in motion…
